I had a blast today with Taylor & Jacob! We drove into "town" and went to the Butterfly Exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The kids really enjoyed seeing all the butterflies and playing in the play area at the end of the tour. After we left we grabbed our picnic and parked it under a tree to eat. They both had tons of fun running around chasing the pigeons too!

Taylor had her first ballet recital this weekend! She danced to "Baby Beluga" and was the cutest little beluga there ever was!! It was so neat to see her up on the big stage having so much fun. At the end of her performance the daddies went to get their little girls off the stage and brought them all flowers. It was so sweet :)
These pictures are almost all without flash (it wasn't allowed) and all are unedited (I just don't have time quite yet). I was so happy to have a good camera to work with and so glad that I have been learning how to use it and how to adapt to each situation because there were so many people in the audience that had the deer in the headlight look when they announced there was to be no flash photography. I even overheard another parent say, "I don't know how to turn my flash off!" These aren't all the best pics but I am so glad I have them! Also, some of these are from the dress rehearsal and some are from the recital. I was in different seats for each, hence the different angles.

Fun day at the Children's Museum! Always a good place to challenge the skills of any photographer, too! The kids are moving fast, the lighting is changing all over the place, and the colors are everywhere. The kids had a blast running around, playing, making crafts, and at the end they each got a painting on their arm. A good morning that will hopefully lead to a good nap this afternoon :)

Look at this! I bought this plant earlier in the spring because it was pretty and because it was called "Butterfly Milk Weed" so I thought we would get some butterflies in our backyard. Well, we have. But then today I caught this little plant shooting little wispy pods all over the place. Crazy!
And this is one of my day lilies. (Is that spelled right?) I have been wanting to make a new print for our powder room to replace one I really don't care for. I think this one may be it!

Two sweet pictures from the day. One of my two kiddos looking so sweet, adorable, and kind. Reading a bedtime story together in their pjs. Please don't let this photo fool you. Our day together was everything the opposite of this picture! The purple bruise on Jacob's forehead should be your first indication. That happened first thing in the morning and he continued to bump into everything with every body part all.day.long. *sigh*
At least the day did get better at bedtime and after. They were being sweet in this picture and after they were in bed, Eric surprised me with an anniversary present a little early. A new iMac. Very sweet!! Thanks sweetie!!

Jacob discovered today that he likes syrup...a lot! I think today may have been the first time I've given him waffles with syrup (I know, I'm a mean mom!) and he was literally drinking it from his bowl.
This was the welcome sight of the day...the clouds rolling in to give up some much needed rain. Thank you God for letting it rain! |

Another one of those "guess what it is" days!
I was fortunate to get to spend a little time this morning over at Jennifer's house and used her pond for my photography amusement for the day. You can see where she was tackling a similar "motion" assignment right here. Thanks for the camera talk today Jen! (and for letting me test all of your herbs from the garden :) )

Here's a closeup of one of my beautiful Mother's Day flowers. When the arrangement was delivered Taylor asked who they were from and after reading the card I said, "Well, apparently they're from you, Jacob, and Daddy. Thank you!" She then replied, "Oh. Yes. Well I picked them out just for you." Ha! She's funny!

I really wish I had time today to do a little playing around with some of these pictures. But really, they don't need it since she's so stinkin cute! I love how we can be outside, walking down to the mailbox, and a little worm (at the wrong place, at the wrong time!) becomes such an object of interest. I love how my little girl is so so girly with her dresses, bow, dolls, dancing, etc. yet at the same time won't even flinch at the idea of holding (and loving) a worm, a frog, a fish...whatever comes her way. I do feel a little bad for the creature that is sure to get the life literally squeezed out of it...but at least it's in love :)
